BLOG: Jim and Jim - Dumb and Dumber
It was amusing to watch Jim Schwartz and Jim Harbaugh go at it, and apparently the NFL wasn't that concerned because neither guy was fined. I don't have a problem with that. Fines are either to punish awful behavior, or to deter future similar acts. I don't think either applies. It was 2 guys misbehaving, but I don't think it falls into the reprehensible category. And, this was so unique, you don't have to worry about coaches repeating the behavior. I think $7500 for Schwartz and $5000 for Harbaugh would have been okay, just for the NFL to send the message that this was unacceptable. That said, both coaches probably scored points with their players so it would be a fine well worth it.
