Cambridge Eatery To Receive Energy-Efficiency Loan

CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) -- A seafood restaurant in the heart of Cambridge's historic downtown is the first business to receive a new state energy-efficiency loan.

State officials say the $184,000 loan to Jimmie & Sook's Raw Bar & Grill was announced Tuesday at a grand re-opening of the restaurant. The loans are part of the Be SMART program which helps businesses and property owners finance energy efficiency improvements.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development says it received $20 million to fund Be SMART through the BetterBuildings program of the U.S. Department of Energy. The Be SMART initiative includes Be SMART Home, Be SMART Multifamily and Be SMART Business.
