Hazmat Crew Helps Remove 82 Cats From House
THURMONT, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County authorities say they've removed 82 cats from a Thurmont home with help from a hazardous-materials team.
The Animal Control Division said Wednesday the hazmat team found the fumes inside the home so toxic that officers had to wear respirators to rescue the cats.
The agency says the cats were removed Tuesday evening from the home on Putman Road. They were taken to the agency's headquarters for evaluation.
Authorities say they are investigating the apparent neglect of the animals.
