ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — State Sen. Rob Garagiola says he’s getting close to announcing whether he will run for Congress.
Garagiola, a Montgomery County Democrat, said Thursday he will likely make an announcement next week about whether he will run in the 6th Congressional district.
Republican Rep. Roscoe Bartlett is in his 10th term in the district, which was changed significantly in congressional redistricting legislation signed by Gov. Martin O’Malley on Thursday to include a significant portion of Montgomery County.
Garagiola says it’s now a competitive district. He says he has set up a committee to explore a run.
Bartlett announced on Wednesday that he plans to run for re-election.
