HERMANVILLE, Md. (AP) — The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been fatally shot during a struggle with a deputy.

Authorities say about 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, deputies were called to a home in Hermanville for a domestic assault.

Police say a deputy tried to arrest a 38-year-old man, but he resisted and a violent struggle ensued.

Officials say the deputy discharged his gun and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputy sustained some injuries. The incident is under investigation.

    Sounds like they need a little more training down there to deal with those kinds of situations.
