40 Arrested In Montgomery Co. Family Violence Sweep

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County authorities have arrested dozens of people on family violence-related warrants.

WUSA-TV reports that Montgomery County Sheriff Darren Popkin announced 40 arrests during this year's family violence apprehension detail on Thursday and Friday.

During the sweep, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement agencies nationwide, attempt to serve outstanding family-violence warrants. Last year, over 160 law-enforcement agencies from 22 different states participated.

During this year's warrant sweep, Montgomery County deputies, county police officers, tried to serve 56 warrants. They were able to serve 52 warrants on 40 wanted subjects.
