About 3,500 Remain Without Power In Md.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Electric utilities are reporting about 3,500 Maryland customers still without power after a rare October snowstorm.

About 90 percent of them are customers of Potomac Edison, the Maryland division of Allegheny Power.

The company said late Monday afternoon that about 2,100 of the outages are in Washington County. Hundreds more are in Allegany, Carroll and Frederick counties.

Sabillasville Elementary School in northern Frederick County was closed Monday due to a lack of electricity.

Baltimore Gas and Electric and Delmarva Power report scattered outages.
