HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Electric utilities in Maryland say about 1,000 customers remain without power after a freak October snowstorm.

Allegheny Power said Tuesday it had about 800 outages. Nearly 700 of those are in Washington County.

Delmarva Power and BGE report scattered outages in their territory.

Sabillasville Elementary School in northern Frederick County is closed for a second straight day due to a lack of electricity.
