MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) — The LPGA Futures Tour is coming to Maryland next year.

The tour has announced that a new event, the Challenge at Musket Ridge, will be held Aug. 20-26 at Musket Ridge Golf Club in Myersville.

The Futures Tour is the LPGA’s developmental tour. The top 10 money winners each year earn LPGA Tour cards.

The Challenge at Musket Ridge will be the 13th tournament on a 16-tournament schedule next year. It will feature a field of 144 players competing for a $110,000 purse.

Futures Tour CEO Zayra Calderon tells The Frederick News-Post that Maryland had been on the list of places she wanted to add a tournament. She says Musket Ridge “looks like a great place for our product.”
