House Fire In Aspen Hill Kills Woman, Injures Man

ASPEN HILL, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County fire officials say a woman has died in a large house fire in Aspen Hill, and a man was seriously injured.

Fire department spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says firefighters were called to the blaze in the 4700-block of Iris Street about 4 a.m. Thursday.

Garcia says firefighters rescued a woman in her 60s from a first-floor bedroom in the home. She was unconscious and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Firefighters also found a man in the front yard when they arrived. Garcia says the man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They are expected to be treated and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
