Metro To Close 5 Red Line Stations Over Weekend

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says it plans to close five red line stations this weekend for major track work.

The transit agency says the Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations are scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until midnight Sunday. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between the Glenmont and Fort Totten stations.

Metro plans to rebuild tracks, replace communications cables and renovate station platforms.

Riders on the orange and blue lines will also face delays this weekend for rail renewal work. Metro says it plans to single-track trains between the McPherson Square and Foggy Bottom stations.
