Historic Md. Home Gets $300K Renovation

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland home that housed the first classes for what is today McDaniel College has gotten a $300,000 renovation.

The Carroll County Times reports that the home in Westminster will now house a society dedicated to the college's heritage as well as college memorabilia. All of the funding for the renovation came from alumni.

The newly renamed Rembert House was built in the 1830s and housed early classes for Western Maryland College. The college changed its name in 2002 to McDaniel College.
