MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is inviting citizens to a meeting in Myersville about a proposed natural-gas compressor station.
The event is set for Monday night at the Myersville Volunteer Fire Hall.
The compressor is part of the Allegheny Storage Project planned by Dominion Transmission Inc. to help meet a need for natural gas in the Mid-Atlantic region.
It would sit on a 22-acre site south of Myersville. A powerful compressor would boost the flow of natural gas through underground pipes during peak demand.
The project was initially proposed for the Middletown area in 2008. Strong citizen opposition forced the company to find another site.
