Bechtel Moving 625 Jobs From Frederick To Reston

RESTON, Va. (AP) — Engineering and project management firm Bechtel Corp. is moving 625 jobs from Maryland to Virginia.

Company officials say the firm’s operational headquarters will move from Frederick to Reston. Bechtel’s corporate headquarters are in San Francisco.

The company had last month announced plans to keep 1,250 jobs in the company’s power unit in Frederick after Maryland officials approved a $9.5 million grant. Those employees have average salaries of $125,000.

Virginia officials enticed Bechtel to relocate the 625 jobs with $6.5 million in state grants.

Bechtel officials say they expect to move into 200,000 square feet of leased space near Reston Town Center in the third quarter of 2012.

Good luck trying to drive in NoVA! They need to extend metro or quit accepting more leases from businesses.

Amazing that MD has given Bectel $9.5 million to keep jobs here in MD. I hope the Omally administration is happy now

Hope those employees get used to working remotely or move very close to work. The VA roads are full of round-the-clock gridlock.

Hey Martin, While you were abroad spending the taxpayers $$ for so-called jobs, Virginia was once again getting into your pocket you fool.
