Man Sentenced For Using, Selling Fake Bills

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man who pleaded guilty to selling and using counterfeit money has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Robert Johnson was sentenced Wednesday in Baltimore to 41 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Johnson was also ordered to pay restitution to victims but the exact amount has not yet been determined.

According to Johnson's guilty plea, he sold batches of the money to co-conspirators. He also used the money at stores, sometimes using fake $50 and $100 bills for items that cost far less and would receive real money in change.

A judge on Wednesday determined that the total loss as a result of Johnson's actions was over $30,000.
