Police Seek To Question Man About D.C. Gunfire
WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. Park Police say they have obtained an arrest warrant for a man investigators believe was involved in gunfire near the White House.
Sgt. David Schlosser says investigators are looking for 21-year-old Oscar Ramiro Ortega. Schlosser says the warrant charges with Ortega carrying a dangerous weapon, a felony. Ortega is believed to be living in the Washington area with ties to Idaho.
Police say they found an abandoned vehicle Friday night near the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge after the gunfire was reported. Schlosser says items found in the vehicle led them to Ortega. Authorities say the White House did not appear to have been targeted. The Secret Service reported an assault rifle was found at the scene and witnesses reported the driver ran across the bridge toward Arlington, Va.
