ATF Agent Injured During Operation In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Federal agents swarmed Southwest Baltimore Monday night after an enforcement operation led to a wild crash.

Kai Jackson has exclusive video of the moment of impact.

The video shows an out-of-control SUV and an army of federal agents pursuing it.

“It was coming real fast and we all jumped up and everyone ran,” said an eyewitness.

Witnesses say it started with gunshots moments earlier. Agents with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms confirm that 40 agents and Baltimore police took part in an ongoing enforcement action but they declined to give details.

“The bad guy tried to escape through my parking lot,” said Te Shin.

Surveillance video captured another angle as the SUV barreled into a Chevy Trailblazer.

“I was scared and trying to figure out which way to run and which way not to run,” the witness said.

Witnesses say after the vehicle flew through a parking lot, it crashed into a utility pole on Patapsco Avenue, narrowly missing two vehicles.

One ATF agent was injured in the pursuit. That agent was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Seven suspects are in custody, officials say. Four of them were injured. Those injuries are non-life threatening.

This is an ongoing investigation, so the ATF declines to go into specifics about exactly what happened.

Patapsco avenue says it all. Drugs and guns are everywhere along that road and area. Its like putting band aids on bullet holes. I hope the ATF puts away more people than the city police do. You can expect more of this as the economy worsens and crime soars. Baltimore is going to hell in a handbasket.

it was crazy. i lice right across the street from the public storage where all this occured and it looked like something u see on the television. the atf and the other guys were shooting at each other like they were in the wild wild west i have never seen anything like this before. i am just blessed that my grandchildren were inside eating dinner when all this occurred. my only problem is that the atf needs to tell the truth and let the public know the truth. they took it a little to far yesterday. they put alot of innocent peopke in danger of their lifes yesterday and dont even care.

Ok, so you have criminals shooting it out with law enforcment and your comment is condemning law enforcement by saying they are putting people in danger and they don’t even care. What about the criminals? I view it as the criminals are putting innocent people in danger and don’t even care. It’s your type of view point that makes the city is the way it is. Nothing in your comment even hints at the fact that you are even the slightest bit angry at the criminals, just the law enforcment officials trying to do their job and arrest these criminals who are shooting at them.
