Baltimore Expected To Host Green Party Convention
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore is expected to host the Green Party's 2012 presidential nomination convention.
Brian Bittner, co-chair of the state party, tells The Baltimore Sun that the event will be held at the University of Baltimore in July. It is expected to draw hundreds of delegates.
The party's national committee is voting this week on a host for the event, although Baltimore is the only option left after Sacramento dropped its bid Friday.
Maryland's Green and Libertarian parties sued the state Board of Elections after officials ruled that the parties didn't win enough votes in 2010 to qualify for ballot spots. The lawsuit is pending on appeal.
Republicans are gathering in Tampa, Fla., in August. Democrats will meet in Charlotte, N.C., in September.
