UMES Greenhouse Damaged By Fire
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) -- A greenhouse at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus has been damaged by fire.
Fire crews were called to the campus Sunday afternoon as heavy smoke billowed from the building in Princess Anne.
Fire officials told WMDT-TV that the fire broke out in a large greenhouse filled with cardboard, but no one was inside. The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that the greenhouses that house orchid growing projects by UMES and partners Jet Green Group, of Beijing, China, and its Maryland incorporated subsidiary U.S. Orchid Laboratory and Nursery, was heavily damaged by the blaze.
