Maryland Firm To Design Montgomery Co. Bus System
WHITE MARSH, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland-based transportation planning firm has been chosen to prepare a cost estimate and blueprint for a rapid bus system to serve Montgomery County.
The Baltimore Sun reports that The Traffic Group, of White Marsh, Md., will design the system that will consist of a 150 mile network of express lanes stretching from Gaithersburg to Silver Spring. The system would be capable of handling 207,000 passengers a day and it would be on the largest rapid bus transit systems in the country.
A $260,000 grant is paying for the study and related work. A report from The Traffic Group is due late next month.
