BLOG: Chilly & Clear

A front is moving across the area now with a weak wave of low pressure off the coast to the east of Norfolk, Va. The flow ahead of the front helped pick up some of the moisture from the low off the coast and bring a band of light rain northward just east of Delaware and New Jersey across Long Island and into southeastern New England overnight that is still going on now. However, things will be moving along off to the east this morning as the upper-level trough swings eastward and a northwest surface flow behind the front moving off to the east and high pressure moving toward the Ohio Valley delivers drier and chilly air. So, after some clouds to start this morning (mostly high and mid), we will end up mostly sunny with a chilly breeze and temperatures down from yesterday.

High pressure from the Ohio Valley later today will shift eastward tonight and tomorrow and promote clear skies and some cold temperatures. The wind will be less active tomorrow, so even though the actual high temperatures will be a few degrees lower than today, it won't feel that bad, and certainly nothing too much below average though colder than what we have been accustomed to in what has been an overall mild Fall. This high will hold its ground tomorrow night and Monday, continuing to bring mainly clear skies and temperatures will moderate a few degrees Monday.

We will remain dry and have a little more recovery in those temperatures Tuesday with a little more of a southwesterly flow around high pressure center that will be sliding to the south. There will be some mid and high level moisture directed our way Tuesday in this flow so sunshine should mix with some clouds, but all in all, a decent day.
