BALTIMORE (AP) — Chronic sewage leaks from failing infrastructure may be a bigger threat to the region’s waterways and Baltimore’s harbor than accidental sewage overflows during heavy rains.

Environmental groups tell The Baltimore Sun there is growing evidence that sewage discharges are a major source of the pollution that leads to algae blooms and fish kills in the Chesapeake Bay. Baltimore’s streams and harbor are routinely fouled even on sunny days.

Experts and activists say a nearly $2 billion overhaul of sewer lines in the city and Baltimore County currently under way won’t be enough.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is scheduled to join businesses and groups that formed the Waterfront Partnership to release a plan Wednesday to make the harbor swimmable and fishable by 2020. But sewage leaks might make that impossible.

Sewage leaks into the harbor. From municipal systems, not septic systems. PlanMaryland, which was the septic bill from this past year that got squashed in legislature is now on the table as executive mandate. King O’Malley is going to punish rural Maryland for the sins of Baltimore City and surrounding areas. Our property rights in rural maryland are being removed and the urbanites cheer.

Time to wake up and accept your part of the responsiblity for damage to the Bay and stop punishing rural Maryland.

O’Malley is nothing more than a tyrant and is hiding behind junk science to further his War on Rural Maryland.

Environmentalism on the political divide. It is just a fancy form of gerrymandering, restrict those who vote against the tyranny (D).

Where is CBF? Where is thier outrage?

Will Baker? Martin O;Malley? Bueller? Bueller? ANYONE??

Guess what? The “environmentalists” don’t want to step on the toes of their political base, so rural Maryland loses their rights and the urbanites can pollute without hinderance.
