Gallo Leads Coppin State Over Towson 71-57

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Tony Gallo scored a career-high 27 points, including 17 in the second half, to lead Coppin State over Towson 71-57 on Wednesday night.

Gallo, who led the Eagles (4-5) in scoring for the eighth time this season, made six 3-pointers and was 7 of 9 from the free-throw line.

Taariq Cephas added 19 points for Coppin State, which ended a four-game losing skid to the Tigers. The Eagles last beat Towson in 1993.

Coppin State scored 21 points off of 21 turnovers, while committing just nine of its own.

Towson (0-10) cut the Eagles' lead to 44-41 on Deon Jones' three-point play with 9:33 remaining. Coppin State then got one 3-pointer each by Gallo and Ellis to pull away, 50-41, with 7:46 to go.

Marcus Damas scored 16 points and Robert Nwankwo 15 to lead the Tigers, who have lost 29 straight dating back to last season.
