Pawn Shop Owner Charged With Firearms Violations
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a pawn shop owner has been charged with more than 100 offenses months after a raid on the business during which stolen items were allegedly found.
Richard Benjamin Rivkin, 41, owner of Carroll County Jewelry and Loan in Westminster, was charged Tuesday in a criminal information with more than 70 firearms offenses and other crimes.
Troopers say that an investigation of an April burglary of a Mount Airy home in which $70,000 worth of jewelry was stolen led to the finding that some of the stolen items were pawned at the shop.
Authorities say a search of the business in April netted numerous pieces of the stolen jewelry and 13 illegal firearms.
