Md. Animal Control Employee Faces Ethics Complaint
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- An ethics complaint has been filed against a Frederick County Animal Control employee who appears in a video praising a pet advocacy organization she co-directs.
The Frederick News-Post reports that Diana Culp was at the county animal control shelter when she appeared in an interview touting the new group, the fledgling Humane Society for Shelter Pets. Culp says in the video that more money donated to the Humane Society of the United States should be used as intended.
Culp says she wasn't on the clock at the time.
The Humane Society of the United States sent a letter to the county complaining. They say Culp's claims were harmful.
Cary Smith, a Frederick resident and former Humane Society employee, filed a conflict-of-interest complaint with the county ethics commission.
