Girl, 2, Found Alone In Capitol Heights Apartment

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say the father of a 2-year-old girl who was found alone in a Capitol Heights apartment has been charged.

Police spokesman Cpl. Evan Baxter said Wednesday that Anthony Venson, 24, has been charged reckless endangerment, unattended child and neglect of a minor.

Police say they received a call about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday from the child's mother, who was in a hospital and unable to reach the child's father. Authorities say officers went to the apartment in the 6900-block of Walker Mill Road, where they found the girl in a back bedroom.

Police say the girl had been unattended for several hours and was "extremely hungry." The girl was unharmed.
