Debate Over Growth Turns Ugly In Frederick Co.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A debate over growth planning in Frederick County has turned nasty on a radio talk show hosted by the county's top elected official.

The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that former state Delegate Anita Stup called Frederick County Planning Commission member Catherine Forrence a "bitch" on the Dec. 21 show hosted by County Commissioners President Blaine Young.

Stup said during the discussion on WFMD-AM that Forrence "can be a bitch" during planning commission meetings.

Stup and Young have apologized for the remark. The News-Post reports that Young apparently tried and failed to bleep the word by hitting a seven-second delay button.

Forrence says she has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.

She has objected to Young's push to increase the county's residential development potential by 50 percent.
