Stratford U. Taking Over Baltimore Culinary School

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A private school in Baltimore that teaches cooking skills and hospitality management is handing over control of its operations to a Virginia university.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Baltimore International College will officially become a branch of Virginia's Stratford University on Sunday. Students at Baltimore International will be able to continue their classes at Stratford in January, and the branch will start admitting new students in February.

Baltimore International had been in danger of losing its accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on Aug. 31. That penalty would have cost the school its federal financial aid funding and would have likely forced it to shut down.
