Stoglin Leads Maryland Over Samford 75-63

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Terrell Stoglin scored 24 points and Maryland defeated Samford 75-63 on Saturday, setting a season high for margin of victory.

Maryland (9-3) has won six straight and finished the month of December undefeated -- the Terrapins' last loss coming Nov. 29.

It was the ninth time in 12 games that Stoglin, the Atlantic Coast Conference's leading scorer, scored 20 points or more. He hit six 3-pointers, a career best, for the second game in a row. Maryland was 9 of 17 (52.9 percent) beyond the arc.

The Terrapins shot 50.9 percent from the floor (27 of 53) and outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-22.

Alex Len had 13 points and seven rebounds for Maryland, in just his second game after sitting out the first 10 games of the season. Nick Faust added 13 points off the bench.

Samford (3-9) was led by Tyler Hood with 14 points and Drew Windler with 13.

The Bulldogs shot 42.6 percent from the floor (26 for 61), and were held to just 8 of 27 from beyond the arc. Samford was ranked second in the nation in 3-point field goals with 10.7 per game.

Maryland led 44-31 at halftime, as Stoglin hit a trio of 3-pointers and scored 15 points. The Terrapins shot 55.6 percent
(15 of 27) for the half and outrebounded Samford 22-8. Stoglin paced an early 8-0 run that gave Maryland a 12-5 lead,
hitting a pair of 3s.

Stoglin opened the second half with another 3-pointer, putting Maryland ahead 47-34. The Terrapins' lead reached 20, 58-38, with 14 minutes to play after back-to-back 3-pointers by Faust.
