Ravens Fans Are Filling Purple Mailboxes With Letters Of Support

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Baltimore is going purple. The mayor urged everyone to get into the Ravens spirit, and kids are already putting pen to paper to cheer for the home team.

As Jessica Kartalija reports, your neighborhood Giant Food store has now become a Ravens post office.

"It's very exciting. The kids come in. They write their letters. They are very excited," said Danielle Buschman, local Giant Food store manager.

Kids of all ages have the opportunity to wish the Ravens luck on their home playoff game.

You can write your letter to the Ravens, fill out the information and they will send you a letter back. It also puts you in the running for things like tickets to next week's game or the Ravens cheerleaders and Poe visiting your school.

The letters are then brought to the Ravens facility in Owings Mills, where they are posted for the Ravens to read.

"The whole atmosphere is fantastic," said Katie Bollinger, Baltimore Ravens. "Everyone is excited for playoffs, the fact that they get to see support coming from the fans directly. They stop to read the artwork. It's fantastic."

The letters can be dropped off at select Baltimore area Giant stores, where they will be collected and delivered.

The goal is to completely cover the walls of the Ravens cafeteria.

"They were all kids once too, and they had dreams of being football players, and now it's coming back full circle and everyone likes it," said one Ravens fan.

The official Ravens playoff gear hasn't even hit store shelves yet. But you can get your hands on everything at BaltimoreRavensstore.com.

A list of participating Giant Food locations, as well as a template for the letters and more information, can be found here.
