SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — The Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury is preparing to begin a nearly $18 million expansion and renovation project.
The construction project will increase the size of the hospital’s 16 operating rooms by at least 200 square feet and double the size of four of them to 800 square feet. The upgrade will create enough space in the rooms to use a robotic device that aids some minimally invasive surgeries.
Officials say the upgrades also will improve patient safety and quality of care and allow for the streamlining of staff procedures.
The expansion project begins Jan. 16 and is expected to take three years.
