Man Charged After Cocaine Allegedly Found In Car

BERLIN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police have arrested a Pennsylvania man after they say troopers found $12,000 worth of suspected cocaine in a work boot in his car's trunk.

Antonio Monroe, 34, of Philadelphia has been charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and other offenses. He is being held on $250,000 secured bond.

Troopers say they stopped Monroe's car Saturday in Berlin because of improperly displayed registration plates. An officer requested the assistance of a police dog.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that police say Monroe tried to run away after about 120 grams of suspected cocaine and a stun-gun were found in his car's trunk. He was caught after a brief struggle.
