New Plea Expected For Md. Man Caught In Sting
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man accused of trying to detonate a phony car bomb outside a military recruiting center in suburban Baltimore is expected to enter a new plea next week.
Antonio Martinez, 22, who was charged with attempted murder of federal officers and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, is scheduled for rearraignment Wednesday in federal court. Martinez originally pleaded not guilty.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney for Maryland noted that rearraignments tend to indicate plans for a new plea, but said she could not comment on this case specifically. Martinez's federal public defender did not respond to messages seeking comment.
Court documents detail a sting that allegedly caught Martinez trying to detonate a phony car bomb provided by the FBI outside the Armed Forces Recruiting Center in Catonsville.
