Purple Power Reigns Supreme Across Md. Ahead Of Sunday's Playoff Game

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— Fans are calling this the biggest Purple Friday ever as the City and the counties pull out all the stops for their team. The big game is less than 48 hours away.

Weijia Jiang has more on the fan festivities.

Fans say that over the years, they've gotten pretty used to getting fired up for a playoff game but this one means so much because it is right here at home and they are more than ready to be that twelfth time.

Purple Pride for the biggest game of the season is bursting through Baltimore no matter where you look.

"We haven't had a play off game since 2006. This is incredible!" said a Ravens fan

"I've never, ever seen a Purple Friday like today," said another fan.

At the crack of dawn, the team caravan hit the road, filled with cheerleaders and one very important bird.

"We had a pep rally at our office, 500 people and it was awesome," said a fan.

From Baltimore City schools to grocery stores in Elkridge, the bus kept rolling well after night fell.

"We are so excited, I can't stand it!" a fan said.

Among the stops, the Avenue at White Marsh where a street fair took over. Topped off with the only dance that matters right now-- thanks to a mini Ray Lewis.

And tailgaters showed off their mustaches as an ode to Joe.

"Everybody is coming together so the Ravens can win," said a Ravens said.

"We're gonna win," one fan said. "They're gonna lose."

Even the governor's pumped up-- he joined the huddle to wish the coach good luck.

"He says they'll replace the coat with a more modern version when they bring back the Super Bowl trophy," Gov. Martin O'Malley said.

Just ask anyone in Ravens nation, he'll have a new coat next month.

"No doubt about it! Super Bowl all the way! Going all the way!" a Ravens fan said.

Don't miss the action when the Houston Texans come to Baltimore to take on the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. You can only see it on WJZ.
