Maryland Live Casino To Begin Its Search For Thousands Of Workers

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Months before the opening of Maryland's newest casino but the search for workers has begun.

Gigi Barnett explains thousands of positions will be up for grabs starting Monday.

Construction on Maryland Live Casino is still in full swing, but this week, the casino plans to start hiring at its new employment center.

"We're looking for dynamic personalities in this business. We need people who want to make someone else's day," said Casino General Manager Rob Norton.

"I'm so ready for this. I'm so ready to make some money," said Dominique Chapdelaine.

Chapdelaine says she has the personality to work in a casino. She already has a job at Arundel Mills Mall next door, but she wants some extra cash for school.

"I want to be able to be independent and have enough money where I can take care of myself by myself," she said.

Norton is the casino's general manager. He says almost every position from waiters to security is available. Potential workers can get help applying online at the casino's jobs center.

"There is really no need for casino experience to be part of our team," Norton said.

The casino says 1,500 positions should be available.

"I'd definitely venture over there. It seems like a good atmosphere, seems like a good place to work," said job seeker Larry Thomas. "I like people, so I think I'd have fun."

The jobs are up for grabs starting Monday at 10 a.m.
