Hartford Beats UMBC 74-57

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Andres Torres scored 16 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Hartford over Maryland-Baltimore County 74-57 on Tuesday night.

The Hawks (3-14, 3-2 America East Conference) shot 51 percent from the field (25 of 49), led by Torres' distributions.

Wes Cole added 13 points, going 4 of 6 from 3-point range as the Hawks shot 45.8 percent from behind the arc (11 of 24). Hartford made 7 of 14 3-pointers in the first half and led 33-27 at the break.

The Hawks scored 19 points off 18 Terriers' turnovers, and held UMBC to just 1 of 11 from 3-point range.

Ryan Cook added 12 points, Adrian Satchell 11 and Chase Plummer 10 for the Retrievers (2-15, 1-4).

Plummer averaged 16.5 points per game throughout UMBC's first four conference matchups, and was just 3 of 8 against the Hawks. It was the fourth straight loss for UMBC.
