Md., Del. Senators To Attend Poultry Summit

DELMAR, Del. (AP) -- Sen. Ben Cardin says Maryland and Delaware's four U.S. senators will be on the Eastern Shore next week for a poultry summit.

Cardin says the four will be joined Monday by Delaware Rep. John Carney in Delmar to discuss issues facing the industry. The Maryland Democrat says those issues include domestic and export sales, labor needs, operating costs and environmental issues. The summit will be moderated by Delaware Agriculture Secretary Ed Kee.

The industry is a major employer on the Eastern Shore, but has also been criticized for pollution produced by large growing operations.
