Ex-Md. Attorney Admits To Stealing From Client
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A former Annapolis tax attorney has admitted stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a client's estate.
Jerold K. Nussbaum, 60, pleaded guilty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court on Friday to stealing more than $300,000 from the estate of Norma Gunther and using the funds for himself.
Prosecutors say Gunther's daughter hired Nussbaum and turned everything over to him after her mother died.
They say he properly handled some of the money, but stole just under $308,000 from April 2005 to February 2006.
The Capital of Annapolis reports Nussbaum, who was disbarred in 2007, faces up to 15 years in prison. He's scheduled for sentencing on March 22. Prosecutors are also seeking restitution.
