HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — A woman whose daughter was fatally shot by her former boyfriend says she’s in danger of being evicted.

Brenda Cole told the Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that she didn’t pay January’s rent and was in court on Friday for a failure-to-pay notice. She says a judge granted her request for a delay.

Cole’s daughter, Heather Harris, was shot in the head last June. Randy Houston McPeak of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and is awaiting sentencing.

Cole says she goes to food pantries and has been receiving food stamps and $200 monthly payments from the Washington County Department of Social Services.

She says her lease expires at the end of next month. She’s trying to find a new apartment.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand why this is a news story. The murder, yes, but facing eviction/foreclosure is nothing noteworthy. I don’t care who you are are what bad thing has happened to you…the fact that we have to decide what’s more important…food, shelter or health is absolute BS!!! And this is a decision many have to make, regardless of how we lost our family.

I have to agree with you RW. Unless there is more to this article like “since this has happened to her daughter that she was dependent upon”, why is this news. I have to give this woman the benefit of doubt. Why? This site could never write it’s way out of a wet paper bag, because it’s staffed with a bunch of illiterates.

MDDAD and RW… Really no wonder ppl in MD hate each other if there are losers like you in this state… It takes only one herpe virus to contaminate a community.
