Woman Charged In Liquid Drain Cleaner Attack

CHESTERTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Baltimore woman has been charged with throwing a drain cleaning liquid at a Chestertown man, temporarily blinding him.

Wanda Gross, 39, surrendered to Baltimore County police on Thursday, three days after the alleged attack.

The man was sitting in front of his Chestertown home on Jan. 16 when Gross drove up and accused him of stealing $10 from her. When the man denied this, the sheriff's office says Gross took the liquid drain cleaner from her car and threw it at him. The sheriff's office says some of the liquid splashed into the man's eyes, causing him to lose his vision temporarily.

The man was treated at an area hospital and released.

Gross is charged with first- and second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property and reckless endangerment.
