Victorious Giants Return Home As NFC Champions

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The NFC Championship trophy has landed.

The Giants, fresh off their 20-17 conference title win over the 49ers, are back in the Tri-State area.

Welcome home, Eli & Co.!

The team announced shortly before 7 a.m. that their United Airlines flight from San Francisco had arrived in New York.

"Your (Giants) have landed and return home as NFC champions! #allin," Big Blue posted to their official Twitter account.

Next up, a Super Bowl rematch against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. New York put the finishing touches on their "Revenge Tour" Sunday night, though it'll be Brady seeking redemption Feb. 5 in Indianapolis.

But for now, before kicking off two long weeks full of game prep and media appearances, the Giants will enjoy standing atop the NFC heap.

"Just landed back home," tweeted Giants defensive end Justin Tuck. "But I feel like I'm still flying."

After the game, excited Giants fans began pouring into Dick's Sporting Goods in Garden City, Long Island in search of anything Giants.

"They wanted the locker room tees and the hats, right at the end of the game. That's what they wanted," said co-manager Mike Hodges.

"We've had some kids coming in here to get their hats to wear to school first thing in the morning," said co-manager Pat Steinman.

At the Modell's on 42nd Street in Times Square, fans couldn't wait to snatch up the hottest NFC Championship merchandise.

According to Mitch Modell, customers didn't even wait until the game was over to start making their buys.

"Last night, by the fourth period, we must've had 300 people on the main floor," he said. "Seconds after they won, we rolled out the racks and rolled out the tables."

If it's Giants, it's hot, and lifelong fan Bob Guzzo is already preparing for the parade.

"Giants are on a roll and the final score will be 27-24," he told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs. "They're gonna to win it all and we'll see you down on Broadway."

The Giants in the Super Bowl is also great for local delis and catering services as fans prepare Super Bowl parties.

In fact, at the Bagel Factory in Farmingdale, located near a sporting goods store, manager Caesar Garcia says they're already getting a boost.

"It creates a volume of business for everybody," he said. "Immediately."

He says they're planning a special Giants hero for Super Bowl sunday.
