Frederick News-Post To Resume Monday Publication

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick News-Post will resume publishing a Monday edition Feb. 6, nearly three years after suspending publication.

Publisher Geordie Wilson says the paper will use a different design for Monday's editions and will emphasize business and sports coverage.

Wilson says that the Frederick paper is "not immune to the pressures newspapers are facing." But he says readers have "made it abundantly clear that they want the print edition of their local paper on their doorstep seven days a week."

Myron W. Randall Jr., president of Randall Family LLC, which owns the News-Post, said eliminating the Monday edition was a cost-cutting move, and the intent was always to return to daily publication.

The News-Post has average weekday sales of about 33,900 and Sunday sales of about 34,500.
