Hampton Slides Past Morgan State 68-63

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- Christopher Tolson scored 19 points, including going 4-for-4 from the foul line in the game's final 12 seconds, to lead Hampton in a 68-63 win over Morgan State on Monday night.

Hampton (8-14, 4-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed, but not too far behind, for most of the game until a late run afforded the Pirates a 64-62 lead with 20 seconds left. The Bears couldn't regain the advantage they held for most of the contest, though, as Dewayne Jackson hit just 1 of 2 foul shots and Larry Bastfield missed a late 3-pointer.

Down the stretch, Tolson was perfect at the charity stripe for Hampton.

Darrion Pellum added 15 points and David Bruce 10 for the Pirates, who avenged a Jan. 16th loss at Morgan State.

Jackson paced the Bears (5-14, 3-5) with a game-high 24 points.

Morgan State has dropped three of its last four games.
