Steve Davis: Did Tiger Choke?

Tiger Woods finished third in the Abu Dubai tournament over the weekend. For a guy who had trouble shooting under par and making cuts, this is a step in the right direction.

But, remember, he had a share of the lead going into the final round. This used to be money for Tiger. Not now. Tiger was 11 under thru the first 54 holes, but shot an even par 72 in the final round. Of the top 7 guys, Tiger was the only one who didn't break par. He only made 2 bogeys in the first 54 holes, but 3 in the final 18. He only missed 16 fairways during the first 3 rounds, but missed 12 Sunday. And maybe worse, through 3 rounds, made 46 of 54 greens in regulation. Sunday, he hit just 6 of 18.

I'm not saying he choked because he didn't have a big enough lead to say that. But I do think he's not the same guy he used to be, and I doubt he ever will be that player again.
