Md. Man, 94, Dies After Trash-Burning Accident
FEDERALSBURG, Md. (AP) -- A 94-year-old Federalsburg man has died while trying to control a trash fire outside his home.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says Herbert Griffin Sr. was burning trash and debris outside his home on Monday when the fire got out of control and ignited his clothes. The Star Democrat of Easton reports that Griffin, who had burns on more than 90 percent of his body, was flown to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he died.
His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.
The sheriff's office and Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating his death. The sheriff's office says foul play is not suspected.
