Anne Arundel Co. Police Officer Charged For Warning Drug Dealers About Raid

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)– Anne Arundel County Police and the State’s Attorney’s Office have arrested and charged a police officer on obstruction and drug charges.

The charges against Corporal Rick Alexander stem from a search and seizure warrant that Anne Arundel County Police executed at 10 p.m. on Thursday in the 1300-block of Juniper Street in Shadyside.

Five suspects detained from that location told police during their interviews with detectives that Alexander had informed them of the police raid before it happened. Further investigations revealed phone records and conversations between Alexander and one of the suspects.

The suspects also said that because they were tipped off by Alexander about the raid, they were able to move the drugs from the Juniper Street residence to another location, where detectives later found $829 worth of marijuana.

Alexander, 36, is a 14-year veteran with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. He appeared before the District Court Commissioner but was released on his personal recognizance.

AND THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT ALL OF US,WHAT A JOKE,CRIMINALS HIDING BEHIND THE BADGE

    1. Robert says:

Don’t throw them al under the bus for one persons shortcomings. It’s only marijuana. In another year or two you’ll be able to buy it at your local store.

  2. Mrs. R says:

Excuse me Sylvan, but one bad apple doesn’t speak for the entire department. Who are you going to call when someone breaks into your house or steal your car? I am married to a police officer and I can tell you for certain this is not the norm but the exception.

LADY THE COP IN B.C.P.D. AND MARYLAND ARE NOT DOING THERE JOBS, IF THEY HAD BEEN DRUGS, GANGS, MURDERS WOULDN’T BE OUT OF CONTROL. BALTIMORE AND DRUG DEALERS, MUDERS ETC SPEAK FOR IT SELF

      1. Tac1972 says:

Choo choo is it?? Don’t blame the cops, blame the criminals that commit the crime and the courts that put them back on the streets over and over. What a ridiculous post, blame the ones risking their lives because if they did a “better” job, crime would drop. Crime drops when the idiots stop committing them stop! So no, it doesn’t speak for itself.

      2. Robert says:

What do you think police are omnipresent? The criminals know they greatly outnumber law enforcement and act accordingly. Then a-wads like you with your unrealistic expectations don’t help matters by blaming those out there TRYING to do something for your own stupidity.

  3. Mrs. R says:

Let’s just hope that you don’t ever have to know what it feels like to have your spouse risk their life every day to try to make this area better. It’s a tough job and they get no credit for what they do right. The county is making it harder and harder for public servants. They are under staffed, over worked, and under paid. It’s such a shame that you (like so many) can’t appreciate the job that they do with little to no support or resources.

    1. cms827 says:

Totally agree there are bad seeds everwhere, but does not give anyone the right to condem a whole force.

    2. Demosthenes says:

If someone breaks into a persons house, they’ll be in the bedroom in less than a minute. Expect an immediate assault. Expect the police in 20 minutes or so. If you want to protect yourself own a firearm. That’s all the cops have. That’s all you need. Any idiot can shoot someone. Might as well do it yourself before you are raped and murdered.

  5. Richard Washboard says:

Sylvan, your just an idiot my friend. Your comment is ignorant and near sighted.

  6. Shawn says:

At last check, this was the United States of America. More and more, I’m seeing this mob mentality against someone. Has everyone forgotten due process? Innocent until proven guilty? As far as I’m concerned, this man is 100% innocent until proven otherwise. There are so many situations that officers place themselves in which have the potential to go south. Let’s give this officer a break and let due process play itself out.

  7. Bustyn says:

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, is he? I mean really, it doesn’t occur to a veteran officer that these little dope dealers might drop his name in exchange for a get out of jail free card? Not a real forward looking individual.

  8. John Locke says:

The ironic thing is that this is all over some kids selling some weed. No one cares about weed anymore. What a waste of resources. Go after some dangerous criminals not these young entrepreneurs

  9. mad libertarian guy says:

The real question is why there was a planned raid on $829 worth of pot. Surely there are any number of ways to deal with a guy who has a couple of ounces of marijuana than via raiding his house paramilitary style.

    1. Common Sense says:

Do you really think that the police know the exact amount of drugs at a location? I am no rocket scientist but I am sure they work off information given and investigation tools. Regardless, does the dollar amount even matter? Isn’t getting drugs off the streets the goal? I don’t think the police department will just turn a blind eye to a drug dealer if it’s less that a thousand dollars. Where did you hear they raided the house paramilitary style? Isn’t a search warrant a legal procedure they need to get a judge to sign off on?

      1. ANON says:

Yes getting drugs off the street is a goal not pot its not a drug.Drugs kill people pot on the other hand pot doesn’t. 829 dollars worth of pot is nothing the money they spent on getting that was probably 1000+ dollars ,Isnt that a waste of money?

  10. Greg Beaman says:

Rick Alexander is a hero. He tried to save Americans from terrorists. I call Rick Alexander a freedom fighter. What courage it took for him to serve 14 years in the belly of the beast, all the while knowing that possession of marijuana is not a crime but rather an offense against the whims of the powerful. Good luck to you, RIck Alexander.
