Man Fights Extradition To Maryland
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado man charged with a slaying in Maryland in 2000 is fighting extradition to Maryland.
An attorney for Alexander Bennett, 32, of Greeley, Colo., said Monday his client is refusing to waive extradition. Bennett is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Heidi Bernadzikowski.
Bernadzikowski, 24, was found dead in her Dundalk, Md., home on April 20, 2000. She had been strangled and her neck was cut.
In September, police learned that DNA evidence from the scene matched a specimen in the FBI's national database that matched Bennett.
Another extradition hearing is set for March 19.
