Md. Company Named DOE Energy Innovator
JESSUP, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland company is one of the Department of Energy's top innovators.
The DOE announced Friday that Jessup-based Vorbeck Materials is one of three finalists selected from 14 startups in its "America's Next Top Energy Innovator" challenge.
The companies are using technology developed at DOE national laboratories to create new businesses and products.
Vorbeck is using technology developed at the DOE's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to improve the performance of lithium-ion batteries. The rechargeable batteries are widely used in products ranging from laptops to electric vehicles.
