Delaware State Beats Coppin State 84-81

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Marques Oliver converted a three-point play with 1 second left to give Delaware State an 84-81 win over Coppin State Saturday.

The Hornets (10-11, 7-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led by as many as 12 points in the second half, before Coppin State tied it at 81 with 11 seconds remaining.

The Eagles (12-12, 7-4) led 41-37 at halftime after shooting 61.5 percent (16 of 26). The Hornets then shot 54.3 percent (19 of 35) from the field and scored 16 points off turnovers in the second half for their sixth straight win.

Coppin State made 52.8 percent from the field (28 of 53) but turned it over 17 times, leading to 23 points.

Casey Walker scored 24 points, Tahj Tate 22 and Oliver 15 for the Hornets.

The Eagles were led by Antonio Williams with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Tony Gallo with 23 points.
