Pasadena Man Accepts Plea Deal In Kitten Death In W.Va.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A Maryland man charged in West Virginia with killing a caged kitten has accepted a plea deal.

Justin Michael Beall, 23, of Pasadena, Md., is charged in Berkeley County with felony animal cruelty. Court records show he agreed last week to plead guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Berkeley County assistant prosecutor Timothy D. Helman tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., that a judge could order Beall to serve up to six months in jail, perform community service and undergo counseling and anger management.

Beall is accused of shooting the kitten multiple times with a BB gun as it was held in a metal cage under a home in the Hedgesville area.

Isn’t it crazy how school pitruces haven’t changed? (well, as far as cheesiness goes….) My boys had their “school” pics taken for a toddler class they’re in and they posed in front of a background of fall trees amongst apple barrels and teddy bears. Yikes. And yes, I’ll be ordering the smallest package. :)xocortnie

I understand that sometimes plea deals are the only way to guarantee that someone won’t walk, when there is not enough definitive evidence. However, they seem to be used routinely to minimize perp’s sentencing. Anyone who would do this to a defenseless animal will also enjoy hurting other animals, children and people. They are damaged good, and we should be protected from their behavior by having them removed from society. He’s not going to suddenly be better – he will continue to enjoy feeling poweful by torturing and killing other living beings. Lock him up!
